Winter on Ærø – time to light the fire, up the hygge, and look back in highlights of 2022. The lovely reviews we receive are a source of real pleasure – on TrustPilot we have now had (as at 2nd Dec) 1103 reviews with a straight 5-star rating. It is of course impossible to pick a favourite, but reading each review immediately takes us back to the wedding in question.

An important and much-loved member of our team sadly passed away on Saturday 22nd October – Murphy. So here’s a little tribute to him…

More than any other of our lovely wedding locations, Voderup 35 inspires real affection and love in our wedding couples and other guests. Why you ask?

One of the many pleasures of this job is hearing the exclamations of delight when couples and their guests enter our Wedding Room for the first time.

Nowadays Ærø is famous as the perfect wedding destination, but the idea of Ærø as “Wedding Island” is only a decade or so old. Once upon a time Ærø was famous for something else entirely – ships, sailors, and shipping companies.

During the covid lockdowns we did more and more walking on our little island – and eventually I decided to log the best walks on an app called Alltrails, and then made a website dedicated to these discoveries.

It’s tricky writing about this subject, since we don’t want to discourage couples from choosing to get married in Denmark. Nevertheless, I think it’s important that couples know that our dealings with the state this summer has been rather strained.

Ærø has been remarkable during the pandemic for its extremely low rate of infection compared to everywhere else in Denmark.

Our iconic pink Trabant convertible has been Danish Island Wedding’s company car ever since we started up in 2008.

We have just passed the amazing milestone of 1000 TrustPilot reviews for Danish Island Weddings – and we are proud to say that over 98% of them are 5 stars!

During October, as the second wave of covid19 started to take hold in Europe, we at Danish Island Weddings watched sadly as country after country was closed to travel.

Couples choose Denmark because it is one of the simplest places in the world to get married.
