Romantic Denmark Wedding: Lea and Kevin

Lea and Kevin are both from Pfälzerwald, Germany and have known each other since 2018, after meeting the good old-fashioned way at a local disco! They are both avid Aeroe fans, and have been coming to the island for years (Kevin loves playing golf on our beautiful seaside golf course). So when Yuki met them for the first time on a spring day a few months before their August 2024 wedding to discuss details and document requirements, no sales pitch was needed.

Lea and Kevin knew exactly what they wanted: a casual family wedding in gorgeous surroundings with an unbureaucratic document process. Our little family run business had just featured in a German TV program on NDR , which Lea and Kevin had seen, and shown their guests before the wedding, so the guests felt like they knew us before they even stepped foot off the ferry, and it felt like we were organizing a wedding for old friends.

On the morning of the wedding, Lea and her bridesmaids had some real “hygge” time in our getting ready room at the Old Merchants House. Yuki had arranged dog sitting for the couple’s three dogs so they were well taken care of). She was so relaxed and did her own makeup while her sister did her hair. Laughter could be heard down the hallway all morning as Louise made her bouquets, using flowers freshly harvested that same morning. She tied the bridal bouquet with a pale lilac silk ribbon from Silk and Willow to match the tones of the bridesmaids dresses and Lea’s shoes.

The ceremony was personalized, so that Lea and Kevin could make their own seperate entrances to music of their choice, Lea on her father’s arm. The room was brimming with emotion, and it was very moving to see the reaction of Kevin and their guests.

Keeping everything as local and easy as possible, we suggested a private reception in DGK café right downstairs, after group photos with the talented Neli Garnet, and of course they had to have DGK’s delicious wedding cake! (In the evening they dined in MARSTANG in Marstal, which also focus on local produce wherever possible.)

And as you can see below, it was a very windy day, but that just added to the romance and atmosphere of the gorgeous photos captured by Neli.

We were so delighted to receive a little thankyou gift from Lea and Kevin after the wedding - 2 bottles of wine from their local area, that we just happen to have tasted on a previous visit to Germany, and is one of our favourite wines! :-D

Congratulations dear Lea and Kevin! Come back to Ærø soon! :-)
