Our Wedding Venues, part II: The Beach Hut

Aeroe has countless beaches spread along its jagged coastline and you can always find a spot to soak up the scenery and take a dip. But Vestrestrand (West beach), a short 20-minute walk from Aeroeskoebing, is our own favourite, especially because we are one of those lucky Aeroe families who owns one of the pretty beach huts dotting the bay.

We have literally been coming to the same spot for generations! Our father even proposed to our mother many summers ago, right in front of our family beach hut, on the very spot where we place our wedding arch, and where other couples from all over the globe now come to tie the knot.

Visitors often ask what these huts are used for, and the answer is quite simple: they are used as changing rooms when going for a swim, hygge shelters, to store flipflops and towels, tea pots, kayaks, sup boards and anything beachy! Over the years the huts have starred in TV shows, and their iconic images have marketed Aeroe in countless magazines and tourist brochures, and most recently in this German NDR program.

The beach huts were built by local families, to escape the hustle and bustle of Aeroeskoebing (however strange that may sound to visitors from huge cities walking through the peaceful cobbled streets of our town ;-) . But the town’s population was exponentially larger 100 years ago. And we are so grateful that our great grandfather, who was a captain and genuinely appreciated the sea, had the foresight to build our beach hut. It has been kept in the family for 4 generations.

And we are so happy to be able to share it with couples from every corner of the world in the name of romance.
